WHAT DOES CREDIT CARD TOP UP TRAVEL INSURANCE OFFER?

Our Credit Card top up travel insurance covers you for the excess amount resulting from a valid medical claim against Your Automatic Medical Insurance offered from Your Credit Card Insurance. Thus, if you are relying solely on travel insurance provided by purchasing your travel transport and accommodation with your credit card, our Credit Card Top Up cover will give you that additional protection that you may need should a claim arise. This gives you a cheaper travel insurance with less comprehensive cover that serves as a back stop for your credit card insurance. See our article on credit card travel insurance.

NOTE:

This plan applies if you have purchased your flight tickets with a South African Bank Credit Card and qualify for the automatic travel insurance or have automatic international travel insurance with Your South African Medical Aid.
In respect of Section 1 – Emergency Medical and Related Expenses, We will only be liable to pay any claim submitted in terms of this Policy after the full benefit limit of the cover has been exhausted on the automatic cover that you qualify for on Your South African issued credit card and South African medical aid.
Credit Card/Medical Aid excess waiver: We will refund you up to the amount shown on the Schedule of Benefits for the excess you paid for a valid claim against the credit card/medical Aid automatic travel insurance or medical aid automatic travel insurance provided you have purchased the Credit Card or Medical Aid Top Up cover.MAXIMUM TRAVEL DAYS PROVIDED IS UP TO 90 DAYS.

WHO WOULD SELECT CREDIT CARD TRAVEL INSURANCE COVER?

You may only select this cover if you can prove that you have Automatic Travel Insurance benefits in place as per Your Credit Card company subject to its terms and conditions.

When you purchase your travel insurance policy, you will receive the policy terms and conditions and a policy certificate (outlining the benefit and limit of liability), however, if you not receive the policy documentation, please contact our assistance service.
